The Republican Party

   The Constitution Party

National Convention

National Delegates are often chosen at State Conventions who are on the predetermined slate in their specific caucus. If one is fortunate enough to be on the slate and is voted to attend the national convention, they must then plan to attend the week long national convention which costs thousands of dollars. What average citizen can afford such a cost? This appears to keep everyday citizens out and the elite in.

National delegates are chosen through fair elections in their state conventions. Bad economic conditions encourage us to keep costs low for our national conventions. Cost to attend the 2010 National Convention was under $200 per person excluding travel expenses and hotel. The convention is a two day event to also keep costs affordable.

National Convention

Another example is to look at how the GOP pulled Dan Coats out of retirement to run for U.S. Senate because they never trusted the TEA party candidates that were running in the primaries, thus leaving many Republicans to feel they only had the choice of voting for the lesser of two evils in the fall elections. Is the Republican Party actually listening to the wishes of the people or are they more concerned about control?

The Constitution Party is based on the principles of the sovereignty of God. We know that we must answer to someone higher than ourselves and thus our conduct is of higher ethical standards. This is not to say there is no corruption in our Party, but it is severely limited.

Constitutional Government & Reform

Constitutional Government & Reform

We hear the voices of Americans who desire to turn this country back to it’s Constitutional roots. We look for candidates who understand the root issues of our nation and how to address those issues using the Constitution.

The GOP leadership has no intention of restoring Constitutional Govt. When have they put into office a Constitutional President? The Republicans who sincerely desire reform are not placed in leadership positions. Example is to look at what the Republican Party did to Ron Paul 2 years ago. By changing state party rules in over 14 states, they made it impossible for Ron Paul to get delegates to their National Convention. They lied, were rude, shut down conventions and did everything possible to not play fair.

Constitutional Government is our top priority, thus the reason for our political party’s name! We look for both party leadership and candidates who display exemplary qualities of honesty, integrity, reliability, moral uprightness, fidelity, prudence, temperance, justice, fortitude, self-restraint, courage, kindness, and compassion.

Abortion

Republicans claim to be pro-life but from 2000-06 when they had control of the House and Presidency they did nothing to overturn Roe vs. Wade when they could have done so easily. Also the Republican Party actively campaigned for John McCain in the last presidential race, who is not pro-life. Some of our pro-abortion supreme court justices were appointed by Republicans. What have Republicans actively done to defund Planned Parenthood?

Abortion

The pre-born child, whose life begins at fertilization, is a human being created in God's image. The first duty of the law is to prevent the shedding of innocent blood. It is, therefore, the duty of all civil governments to secure and to safeguard the lives of the pre-born. We affirm both the authority and duty of Congress to limit the appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court in all cases of abortion in accordance with the U.S. Constitution, Article III, Section 2.

Government Spending

Republicans often tout the rhetoric of limited govt. but we often times see when they get in office they do very little to nothing to stop the spending. Republicans had control in the House and the Presidency from 2000-06 and spending actually increased more than it did under Clinton. Millions of dollars are spent on unconstitutional foreign wars all at the approval of most Republicans.

Only those duties, functions, and programs specifically assigned to the federal government by the Constitution should be funded. We call upon Congress and the President to stop all federal expenditures which are not specifically authorized by the U. S. Constitution, and to restore to the states those powers, programs, and sources of revenue that the federal government has usurped.

Government Spending

Foreign Policy

Republicans claim to stand for fiscal conservatism yet spend trillions on unconstitutional foreign wars and policing the world. There are currently 730 U.S. military bases worldwide. Republicans support being involved in 80 allied nations and international institutions, to isolate and confront terrorists and outlaw regimes all at taxpayers expense. They believe we should accomplish this by working with the UN, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and other international organizations.

Foreign Policy

The Constitution Party believes that we should strive to live in peace with all nations, without interfering in their internal affairs. We oppose American participation in any form of world government organization, including any world court under United Nations auspices and we call upon the President, and Congress, to terminate United States membership in the United Nations, and its subsidiary organizations, and terminate U.S. participation in all so-called U.N. peace keeping operations. NATO, serves no defensive purpose for these United States, and this country should withdraw from it

There is no constitutional basis for foreign aid. These expenditures have won us no friends, and constitute a major drain on the resources of our taxpayers. Therefore we demand that U.S. participation in international lending institutions, such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund be ended.

Both Democrats AND Republicans are spending us into oblivion! It’s time to stop the insanity, learn from history and vote in Constitution Party Candidates who will stop the spending by upholding the Constitution!

Education

Education

The GOP calls for a review of Department of Education programs and administration to identify and eliminate ineffective programs, to respect the role of states, and to better meet state needs.

To get our schools back to the basics of learning, the GOP supports initiatives to block-grant more Department of Education funding to the states, with requirements for state-level standards, assessments, and public reporting to ensure transparency.

Because the federal government has absolutely no jurisdiction concerning the education of our children, the United States Department of Education should be abolished; all federal legislation related to education should be repealed. No federal laws subsidizing or regulating the education of children should be enacted. Under no circumstances should the federal government be involved in national teacher certification, educational curricula, textbook selection, learning standards, comprehensive sex education, psychological and psychiatric research testing programs, and personnel.

Candidate Accountability

When a person is interested in running as a Republican candidate, they fill out the required paper work through their county and or the state election board indicating which office they are running for and for which party (it is a simple one page document). Their name is then put on the ballot. There is no vetting process and no accountability to uphold their platform. Often times when a Republican is elected and does not follow their platform, the Republican Party is often silent and will continue to support that elected official if they run for office again.

In Indiana, if someone is interested in running for office, they contact our state party and are sent a 22 page application with over 120 questions they must answer. After the application is reviewed by our Election Committee, the candidate will then be interviewed via phone conference or more preferable in person. If the candidate passes the vetting process, they will then appear before the state delegates at the state convention and be voted as a candidate representing the CP for the office they are running for.

Candidate Accountability

Once elected if they violate any of our principles or their Constitutional Oath of office, there will obviously be consequences and a whole new vetting process if they expect to receive any future support from our party if they run again as a candidate on our party’s ticket.
